~ Entrance / Exit ~ |
Why do you think is this piece of work only offered as a hypertext and not as a linear text on paper? A hypertext offers you, the reader or visitor of the Theme Park the chance, to create your own, your unique text. You follow the links you are interested in. You choose your personal favourite topics, leave others completely out and read other topics twice or even more times. The Virtual Management Theme Park creates only the framework. The topic of this theme park is a complex one, so why show it in a linear way if a non-linear way is possible? Hypertext offers the chance to implement signs and pictures and link them immediately to the topic they are concerned with. This piece of work is BEYOND text, it is a virtual leisure park.
This hypertext will be in a state of flux. There is no beginning and no end in the way the reader / creator goes through it and this project is not finished as you have it before your eyes right now. There will be more parts added and others updated.
What do you expect from a theme park in real life? A lot of different attractions and a lot of different people, each of them making his or her unique way through it, some of them want exciting, thrilling rollercoaster rides, others want to sit in the café or prefer the more quiet attractions. The theme park is the adequate format to present interesting, unusual insight in controversial, non-classical management issues. Do not expect a quantitative analysis, do not expect positivist data. Do you go in a leisure park to look at charts and tables? No. You go there to experience subjectivist feelings and emotions and this is what you get here. There are enough boring management books that try to answer all the questions a manager could be confronted with in his life. Here are no questions answered. The aim is to offer a new perspective on different topics and make the reader ask questions. If you come out of this theme park and you found it boring, this project failed.
This text is the entrance and the exit at the same time. If you are about to enter the theme park have fun! If you have finished your visit, envision your chances, tune up your (managerial) life, and, of course, come back!
